AI AWARE UNIVERSITIES

The six universities team of coordinators

During the first week of July, BISLA took part in the initial planning workshop of the project AI Aware Universities: Empowering University Communities for Ethical Use of AI.

The project is a part of the Digital Democracy Accelerator, funded by the Open Science Framework. It is devoted to deliberations on the ethical and policy aspect of digital democracy, initiated from bottom-up. The project  is led by the American University in Bulgaria’s (AUBG) Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship (CIDC) and brings together Bard College in Berlin, Central European University, BISLA, European Humanities University, and LCC International University to foster a student-led dialogue on how to use AI in classrooms and outside effectively and ethically.

The project will entail four workshops for students, aimed to generate recommendations for university policies on the use of AI. It will also involve faculty and staff into this deliberative process, and provide guidelines that may be of use to other universities and academic institutions.
