Menachem Edelman-Landau
Menachem Edelman-Landau is a painter, illustrator, and filmmaker.
He was born in Jerusalem in 1982 and lived in Israel until 2016. He graduated with honors from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. During his studies, he won many scholarships and grants from the Israeli Film Fund, The Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts, the Gesher Multicultural Film Fund, the Brin Fund, and the Agan Makhteshim Fund.
After graduating, he directed the film “Sudden Birth and a Wolf” (45 minutes), which was screened at festivals in Israel and Europe and was the opening film for the “La Cabina” festival for medium-length films in Valencia, Spain. The film was also screened commercially in Israeli cinematheques. At the same time, he worked in a series of positions in the film and television industry. He served as script editor and literary editor in several projects.
As an illustrator, he has been a member of the Israeli Association of Illustrators since he was 18. His paintings and illustrations have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Jerusalem, Ramat Gan, Ra’anana, Be’er Sheva, Tiberias, Kfar Tabor, and more.
In 2016-2019, he traveled around Europe and painted murals for private homes and small institutions in Italy, France, Spain, England, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovakia. Since 2019, he has been painting mainly oil portraits. His paintings have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in New York, Israel, Slovakia, and Austria.
Edelman-Landau is also a lecturer in film, art, and classical music and was an editor and broadcaster of classical music programs on Israeli National Radio.
