PhDr. Dušan Kováč, DrSc.
Dušan Kováč is a renowned Slovak historian, writer, and senior researcher. Born on January 3, 1942, in Humenné, he has dedicated his career to exploring Slovak and Central European history, particularly the 19th and early 20th centuries. A graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava, Kováč has held numerous academic positions, including leadership roles within the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV).
His prolific work includes seminal publications such as “Dejiny Slovenska” and the two-volume “Kronika Slovenska.” Beyond his historical research, he has published poetry, prose, and radio plays. Kováč’s contributions to both historiography and literature have solidified his legacy as a pivotal figure in Slovak intellectual and cultural life.
