James Thomson

James Thomson graduated from Oxford University in modern history and then worked in central and eastern Europe, Africa and the former Soviet Union before joining BBC World Service Radio, where he produced and edited live news programmes for the English-language service. He subsequently lived and worked in Australia and then New Zealand, producing, editing and presenting programmes for Radio New Zealand and Radio New Zealand International. Between 2017 and 2018 he was editor-in-chief of the Eurozine network of European cultural journals. As well as teaching, he has travelled widely in Slovakia and is the author of an English-language travel guide to the country.
